Real-time systems architect for B2B SaaS teams that can't afford to break.
Sergey Meshkov
I help product teams ship real-time features — video, chat, collaborative editing, live feeds — that hold up under load. 9 years at Atlassian scaling Jira and Confluence, plus two founder stints building real-time products on GCP and AWS.
About
- I'm a software architect specializing in real-time systems — the kind of features that fail in interesting ways at scale. For 9 years at Atlassian, I helped build the infrastructure behind Jira, Confluence, and Atlassian Home, including a cross-product activity feed that prioritized work items for millions of users and SCIM-based identity provisioning for enterprise customers. More recently, I co-founded RoundTable, a real-time video and chat platform for creators on GCP, and I'm currently CTO at Giftbee, where I've shipped production agentic AI workflows across the software lifecycle.
- I work with teams that are either (a) about to ship their first real-time feature and want to get the architecture right the first time, or (b) running on a real-time stack that's starting to crack and need someone who's seen the failure modes before. I'm based in Sydney and work with clients across Australia and the US.

How I work
Most engagements are one of these shapes:
- Architecture review (2-3 weeks) — written assessment, risk list, remediation roadmap for an existing real-time stack.
- Feature build (4-8 weeks) — production-ready implementation of a new live feature on your stack.
- Agentic AI integration (3-6 weeks) — production AI workflows beyond a chat wrapper.
- Fractional architect (ongoing, 1-2 days/week) — for early-stage teams needing senior architectural judgment without a full-time hire.
